We started celebrating the holidays by taking our friend and realtor, Daniel, his beautiful wife, Diana and Craig out for dinner on Friday night. We had a great time and I was encouraged that talking Spanish to Diana went better than my efforts last year when I had used up all my Spanish words in the first 20 minutes.
The next night, I had Oscar, my taxi driver, take Roger, Craig and I on a Christmas light tour. For 40 years, Medellin has created a light festival called Los Alumbrados, which is a spectacular display throughout the city.

Oscar had planned his route to ensure we saw everything from different vantage points. |

These pinwheels are powered by water from the river - and
they even change color. Amazing sight. |

Lights in El Centro |
|
Amazing carts of food were set up all along the river. |
|
Deep fried pieces of heaven -- aka Churros. |

|
Thousands of people walked along the river seeing the displays
and enjoying the wonderful atmosphere. |
By any measure, Los Alumbrados is a Christmas light display extraordinaire. A winter wonderland without the snow. Me gusta!
